Emily Lake, PhD

Founder and Executive Director

Emily leads CPAM Parents day to day and directs the Parent Connections program. She founded the organization in late 2025 after her son was diagnosed prenatally with a bronchopulmonary sequestration (BPS) and became seriously ill.

Emily has a BA and an MA, both from the University of London. She also holds a PhD from Stanford University, where her research focused on how very young children use language socially in preschool. She also has an extensive background in running and facilitating peer support groups for a grief and bereavement organization, experience that directly shapes how she thinks about community, connection, and what families in crisis actually need. Originally from the UK, she lives in California with her husband, their two boys, and two cats.
